APC in Egypt decides to ban the registration, trade and use of chlorpyrifos pesticide on vegetables, fruits and all food products to protect the health of the Egyptian citizen and to preserve the reputation of Egyptian agricultural exports abroad.

Agricultural Pesticides Committee (APC) decided to cancel the registration, trade and use of pesticide chlorpyrifos on vegetables, fruits and all food products as of June 30, 2022

Agricultural Pesticides Committee (APC) in Egypt - chaired by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Abd Elmegeed -  decided, in its session No. 3/2022 on 3/8/2022, to cancel the registration, trade and use of pesticide Chlorpyrifos, based on the reports of Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) regarding Egyptian agricultural exports to the European Union and the percentage of observations regarding the active substance (Chlorpyrifos) according to the following procdures:

A- Stopping the use of pesticides that fall under the active substance chlorpyrifos on all recommended crops, as of 30 June 2022..

B- Restricting the use of this effective active substance to non-food products (termites - cotton - locusts) until 31 Dec. 2023..

C- Canceling the registration and trade of pesticide Chlorpyrifos (all its formulations) after the expiry of this deadline on 31 Dec. 2023.
